Because of the time difference I had to stay up all night (in Denmark)
to follow the election. Went to bed early in the morning after Florida
was settled with those electronic machines, my wife asked what had
happened and I said: They chose the chimp.

It was skilfully presented as a virtue to keep to a disastrous course
and as a folly (flip-flop) to change the course according to the
conditions.
***
A man who claims that God tells him what to do was chosen because he is
seen to represent a religion that was founded on neighborly love and
humility.
***
If someone else comes along and says he hears voices in his head when he
has the dry drunk shivers, and that these voices tells him to commit
unspeakable violence, he would be placed in a nice padded cell.

In this case he is chosen to have the finnger on the atomic button and
to pursue a reckless climate and energy policy that could well divert
the Gulf Stream causing an ice age in Europe and desertication in the
Midwest and could ultimately make the world uninhabitable.

People talk about moral issues and mean censorship of their neigbours,
refusing others the right to decide for themselves, be it about abortion
or gay unions.
Once upon a time a moral man was a man who lived according to high moral
principles - not someone who led the pack in a witch hunt on others.

They say they will bring the world freedom and democracy. Freedom is
exactly the right for everyone to live according to their own wishes and
morals, as long as they don't interfere with others' freedom.
And democracy means people's government and should of course be
implemented in all important spheres of life, whether in the family, in
politics or in business.

When they say freedom and democracy in Iraq they mean their own freedom
to exploit the country and their right to impose a puppet government on
the people.

Fleeing to Canada or Tonga is the short time solution. Where do we go
when the greenhouse effect starts feeding on itself and we end up with
something approaching the surface of Venus - 800 degrees, hurricanes,
and hydrochloric acid raining from the impenetrable layer of clouds?

And what is His Shrubbery's solution: Hold the course. I'm a war
president, I never waver, I wade into the quagmire and sink like a man.

Of course, Bush will bring the American empire to a speedy end, because
his financial incontinence will bankrupt the country. But the resulting
crisis will hurt ordinary people everywhere, while the billionaires just
will relocate. So that's no cause for celebration. Change ought to come
in another way that will allow the American people to participate in the
world's affairs while giving up their imperial demands.

What I don't understand is: Given that the Chinese have this huge trade
surplus, why do they continue to buy US treasury bonds with measly
interest rates for the profit they get, thus lending Bush what he needs
and financing the war in Iraq? If they demanded payment in euros or if
they chose to use the surplus to buy stocks in US companies and take
over the country that way, that would seem to be a smarter businesslike
solution.

God help us all (if he has not been taken over completely by the
bushites).
