Yes, and while this transcendent ideal ego contemplates the synthetic a priori, other more primitive aspects of the "noumena" are thinking about what sort of greaseburger to have for lunch, and what sort of kinky acrobatics the secretary performed over the weekend, all while perched in front of a machine constructed out of millions of electronic  "binary oppositions"....       
 
 
 and 
this 
has nothing do with some animistic-derivative notion of soul:  it's as 
material as can be imagined, insofar as human beings are a natural 
issue 
and, hence, nature has a vested interest in our existence, or, more 
likely 
as of election 2004, our extinction.

If anything the elections and the success of X-tians for Cruise Missiles, Inc.  prove the necessity of limiting freedom and of the need for much more effective secular  conditioning. 

just because people under duress start to act more like animals doesn't 
corroborate the findings of bestialist dorks like skinner.  in any 
case, 
both kant and william burroughs would agree:  it is possible to act 
upon a 
reality that does not exist.
