octopus porn

On a business trip to Tokyo a dozen years ago I spent
half a day wandering around the bookstore district,
Jimbo-cho.  They've got shops that specialize in just
about anything you can imagine - the shop with '60s
Japanese car magazines was pretty cool, there were
shops specializing in all kinds of foreign
publications, plus lots of porno magazines and books -
every fetish I could imagine and many I couldn't, all
with the eyes, nipples, and genitalia censored with
little black rectangles, which makes it look extra
naughty to me, but I guess that's just a result of
coming up during the 50s and 60s when hard-core wasn't
as hard-core as it is now (at least it was mostly in
black and white).  But I don't recall seeing any
octopus porn in any of the Jimbo-cho shops, and I
think I would have remembered if I had - maybe it's a
relatively recent revival of an older tradition (the
site I link to at pynchonoid.org links to a classic
and relatively explicit early 19th century Hokusai
picture of a woman being ravished by an octopus ( at

you're curious; go ahead, be a sport, this is Art).  
re an earlier post today, Pynchon uses the Toiletship
to illustrate the German mania for specialization, but
they've got nothing on the Japanese, in my experience.
