Well. Okay. So that's how my Polish ancestors made it. Yes, they 
pretended to
be Catholic. But come on, with a name like Zimnewicz -- which DOES NOT 
EXIST --
it could only be a mutation of Zimmerman -- I know there's real Jew back 
there.
And so maybe the applesauce is mutation as well. Doesn't really matter 
as I've been
further mongrelized with Spanish/Italian and my children further still. 
Doesn't change
the fact that my favorite foods from childhood were deep-fried burritos, 
sukiyaki,
and latkes.
