unsubstantiated rumor that Melanie Jackson denied Playboy Japan interview

As it happens, I'm having lunch with Rich Romeo this
afternoon in San Francisco, I'll ask him about it.

But it seems to me that it was davemarc who called
Melanie Jackson's office and was told by somebody - I
don't believe he claimed it was Ms Jackson herself,
maybe davemarc will clear this up if he did make the
call - made some sort of denial.  Hardly
authoritative, the way I first heard this story. 
Maybe it wasn't davemarc, and if that's the case,
sorry to drag your name in

jbor - did Prof. Krafft tell you what he thinks of the
interview?  Whether he thinks it is genuine or not?
Tell the truth now. If you're going to use his name as
an authority to bolster your argument, at the very
least you should go ahead and tell us the rest of what
he said.

Sorry, I must have published this in SHADOWPYNCHON-L,
where some of us carry on a discussion from time to
time, when we want to avoid jbor's bs.

To re-cap, Pynchon's next book is said to  be set for
publication next fall, in 2005; I heard this from
somebody here in the US.   It's in the p-list archives
now, that's for sure.
