Please learn to think before firing off the standard 
boilerplate.  I missed Dave Monroe's earlier and rather 
complete post about the term REX 84 along with cites but my 
point is not as you've stated above.

My point is that much of what is sent around about REX 84 is 
urban legend and is taken as truth by the black helicopter 
crowd who also believe that these concentration camps will be 
staffed by the UN.
Now, Mr. Smarty, please explain how something on the order of 
alligators in the sewers gets into a work of modern fiction. 
Also, just what alleys was the author cruising when he happened 
upon this piece of news?
