Doesn't change the _fact_ that a corrupt and cruel DEA
agent forced Zoyd into the deal that puts Zoyd in this
situation.

Vineland, p. 304:
[...] Right, which is where the mental disability
arrangement came in. "Just a way for us to know where
you are," Hector had explained, "long as you're
picking up the checks, nobody'll bother you--but if
you stop, even one time, the alarm goes off and we
know you're tryin' to skip."[...]

Nor does it change the _fact_ that, at the end of the
novel, Pynchon leaves Zoyd and Frenesi in the loving
arms of an extended family. If Pynchon reviled these
characters the way jbor does, it's reasonable to
assume P would have devised a more humiliating end for
them in the novel. It's the Nixon/Reagan-era
neofascist Brock Vond that Pynchon condemns to a
hellish-looking afterlife.

But we've hashed and re-hashed this particular
argument many times here before. Why not apply those
internationally-recognized Pynchon-critical abilities
of yours to the uncollected works currently under
discussion? Or, at least, apply your equally
well-known trolling techniques to a new topic. Best:
let go of your bitterness about the 60s
counterculture, it can't be good for you. Life's
short.
