Hello all,
I'm not new here, I awaited a little time to see how the environment
was there before introducing myself. I am 28 years old, nearly 29, I
live in France, and I came on this list starting from the Yahoo list
devoted to Pynchon, which I believe is not very active now. I
discovered Pynchon one year ago, by the way of the fantasy writer Tim
Powers. I can hardly say that I'm one of his good friends but, well,
I'm a member of his list and he quoted Pynchon among his major
influences, I bought V and The Crying Of Lot 49. And I loved them.
Just as Gravity's Rainbow, Mason & Dixon, Vineland and Slow Learner, in
the order I read them. As lately I was a little disappointed by the
quality of the subjects on the timpowers list, I said to myself that it
would be time to say hello for the first time to my friends of
pynchon-l.
I don't know if there's any people who read Powers here. There's really
some really good Powers books, especially The Stress Of Her Regard,
Last Call and Declare. They can't compete with Mason & Dixon or
Gravity's Rainbow, nevertheless.
Cheers
Vincent
