It's not that unusual actually. Rather than everyone just nominating their favourite I imagine
everyone offering up a top ten and points being alloted for position. So number 1 in your list would
get 10 opints and number 10 would get 1 point Points are added up and the list is assembled. This
way we don't get a list that reads:

1: Gravity's Rainbow
2: V

and nothing else.
