Paralyzed by an embarrass de richesses I decided to limit myself to
novels a) published after 1900 and b) available in English (which
e.g. leaves out one of my perennial favorites, "Alastalon salissa"
(1933) by Volter Kilpi, a Finnish peer of Joyce & Proust - the tome
has only been translated into Swedish, by the very Swedish-speaking
Finn who translated "Ulysses" into Swedish - many have considered it
the best "Ulysses" translation around). Besides, only 1 book/writer.
