Metaphor? I thought the whole thing was an allegory re: the Oxford school
system, and the various difficulties between the various departments, and
the various disciplines within the departments, and especially the various
interpretations (or, ways of interpreting, if you prefer) within the various
disciplines within the various departments within the various schools.
Wasn't C.S. Lewis supposed to be Silmarillion (Gandalf's horse, id est that
Tolkien rode for a while)?
