As DVD's now supply extraordinary AV reproduction and there is very little
of interest on "basic" cable, let alone broadcast tv, other than "classic"
movies, television has become a commitment; when one chooses to pay for
television, i.e. for cable, then television becomes important, just like it
was for most of us when we were children.  Speaking of children, I left out
Pee-Wee's Playhouse from my list.
