Now, I do respect Bekah's POW.
But then again, I have met numerous females who love GR. They
have worked in the Pyndustrial subbranches of the academy, or
have formerly contributed to the p-list (like the great Chris
K), or done both (like the great Dana M who once said that GR
"is the best damn novel in the world").
As to so called lay readers of GR, it is almost impossible to
bump into one here in Finland as the doorstopper has not been
translated into Finnish. (But "Rayuela" is just coming out in
Finnish... can't wait.) But I believe you when you say that a
great majority of so called lay readers of GR in USA are male.
But I think it is still another thing why the steady drinkers
in this joint called pynchon-l tend to belong to the male sex
too.
