You're assuming Pynchon = Slothrop?  That would make
things easy, wouldn't it.  Somehow I don't think this
is an equivalency you would accept if anybody but
yourself put it forward in this forum.

You've dodged the issue you raised in the previous
post -- where you seemed to value Pynchon's work as an
"investigative journalist" over his fiction writing,
because of its political engagement. If that's your
point, I'll agree with you on the value of
politically-engaged investigative journalism, but I
don't  join you in relegating  Pynchon to "glozing
neuterdom" when he's engaged in writing V., COL49, GR,
etc. in the 1960s.
