Funny that jbor would offer such a criticism, given
the simple-minded equation of Pynchon = Slothrop that
he advances elsewhere in his insulting response to
your remarks.  jbor is always quick to assert what he
believes are Pynchon's purpose, intentions, feelings,
etc., even as he falsely suggests that others are
doing this -- that sort of intellectual dishonesty and
arguing in bad faith is a big part of what makes it so
difficult to continue these conversations in this
forum, as soon as someboby offers a plausible
alternative to jbor's interpretative prescriptions
jbor starts twisting the interlocutor's assertions in
order to erect and demolish straw men.
