Howdy
I've been musing about the influence of graphic design on politics. It
may not be as loony as it sounds to propose that the Nazi's prevailed
in large part through superior graphic design. Building on a long
history of really splendid German flag design, the Nazi's invested a
lot of energy in creating and deploying flags and penants as the
ensigns of a new totalitarian power over ancient places and peoples.
Take note: the Bush/Cheney campaign has much *much* better graphics
than Kerry/Edwards. We're doomed. You heard it here first.
I thought y'all'd enjoy a peek at the German postal service flag from
the Imperial period, with its Pynchonian-post-horn motif:

Cruise around this website! The principality of Bremen had some
especially fine flags.
