That's an upgrade, from "shitty" to "average". 

For the record, I do not unreflectively adore every
word Pynchon has written.  I think it's all worth
reading, however, and much of what he has written is
worth re-reading and detailed study.

On another topic, not many of you would be in a
position to know that the several blogs I edit and
write are part of a publishing profile that helps me
get lucrative freelance projects -- most recently,
creating a detailed editorial plan for a new
publishing venture. For fun and profit.  That's how I
manage to work at home with a flexible schedule, and
maintain a modest lifestyle in one of the world's most
expensive places to live.
