On the other hand, the publication of Vineland "in February 1990"
was first announced in Bookworld on March 12, 1989. See p. 145 in
Pynchon Notes 20-21, www2.ham.muohio.edu/~krafftjm/pn/pn020.pdf
The book did finally come out at the turn of 1990 already (I got
it by snail mail around Jan 25 from a friend visiting the U of
Colorado) but still, that makes over 9 months...
