I liked it. I liked Mason & Dixon better.
Mason & Dixon: a departure for Pynchon - I think - in going further
toward magical realism than any of his other books. I think it's
because it's set further in the past and told as to a family in a
parlor by a roguish relative free to take liberties with the tale.
Stephenson: although he doesn't have Pynchon's lyricism (but, my God -
who does?) he has some moving and beautiful things to relate.
Wonderful plotting. I won't spoil it for you.
