should I read? Women authors?

One of the better (and relatively less well-known) women writers  I've read 
is "James" Tiptree, Jr. (a pseudonym; I believe her real name was  Alice 
Sheldon, or somesuch), who - before she committed suicide, 20 or so years  ago - 
wrote some GREAT sci-fi short stories (and 1 or 2 novels). Do you know of  her?
