This list really should include Katherine Dunn's 'Geek Love'. It's just too 
good a novel to leave outside the door. Imagine Angela Carter if someone 
found a way to disassociate her amazing writing from the amazingly horrific 
anglo-middle-class smugness of her personality.

Perhaps we could even have Dunn as a substitute in place of Anais Nin's 
soft-porn-dressed-as-literary-fiction novels; not so much 
'mutton-dressed-as-lamb' as 'jilly-cooper-dressed-as-simone-de-beauvoir.
