Well--and to a certain extent I can remember this, I
have certain memories I can reliably date (e.g., the
moon landing, my 2nd Christmas, et al.)--my mom told
me I just started reading from a Dr. Seuss book (can't
recall which off hand, but ...) somewhere in my 2nd
year. Sure, MAYBE I memorized it having had it read
to me, but ... but I also received a globe for my 2nd
Christmas which I repotedly referred to as a "two
world." I've always been cartographically inclined.
I've always been calligraphically inclined, in fact.
I had to relearn cursive writing the Catholic nun way
when I got to grade school at age four (I have a late
birthday, so ...), though now my hands are so shot
I've become the most illegible bachelor in town ((c)
Billy Bragg, and my typing is obviously not so hot,
either). This is not to claim to be a prodigy of any
sort (I've long since dispelled any illusions my
parents [R.I.P.] might have had about that, and
there's plenty of "nornmal" things I STILL haven't
caught on to, like, say, operating venetian blinds;
I'm not so strong a shoe tier, either), but, well, a
counterexample ...
