Interesting how Norman O. Brown went from the footnoted, academic 
style of _Life Against Death_ to the aphoristic style of _Love's 
Body_. Sort of the way Nietzsche went from the style of _Birth of 
Tragedy_ to _Ecce Homo_. Been thinking about that transition of 
style and what it implies for author's relation to subject. Pynchon, 
of course, never went that route.
