It seems like this idea may well be a part of Pynchon's imaginings.  It 
would be an even more extreme "way out" than polymorphous perversity. 
Fortunately (unfortunately) literature is not statecraft. Writing is not 
doing.  The symbol does  not contain the seeds of its own destruction. 
Unlike some things we have been prone to speculate upon.
