During my bi-monthly check of the p-list, I find a reference to Wise Blood.

I loved this movie! Brad Dourif, the actor who played Hazel Motes (voice of
Chucky in Child's Play, Bride of..., &c.) had a wonderful ragged edge about
him. I had experienced the return from a military hitch & was pretty ragged
myself, so I could empathize with this sense of alienation & sheer nihilistic
hatred of normal existence. Also, the idea of a "Church of Truth Without
Jesus Christ Crucified" of my own seemed a really cool idea at the time.
Amy Wright as Sabbath Lily is perfectly demented.
All in all, a perfectly unseemly deconstruction of the ridiculously
successful Christian sect.
{The term "wise blood" itself comes from the idea that women became very
wise at menopause, when they no longer shed the lunar "wise blood" but kept it
within. See the article on the Crone in The Woman's Encyclopedia of Myths and
Secrets by Barbara G. Walker}
