Hoy! Hoy!
       With regards to the origin of Pynchon's Kenosha Kid; wasn't the 
hometown of young filmmaker Orson Welles issued some notoriety by the media 
nicknaming him the "Kenosha Kid" as well ?   A film enthusiast such as Pynchon might 
have become familiarized with Welles' biography and discovered a name that 
could double as the name of an imaginary swing-era dance craze that a fictional 
character in a novel may, or may not have "did".   Of course, I have no idea 
whatsoever if the name from the comic book could have played any role in 
nicknaming Mr Welles.  Simply curious.
