I have the Husain Haddawy translation edited by Muhsin Mahdi.  It's 
in the Everyman Library.  It has a great introduction and a map to 
show where the stories were from.  The organization is  pretty 
straightforward and easy to keep track of via the Table of Contents. 
The language is poetic yet readable to the modern person.  I only 
have Volume I.   I guess the second volume has the Sinbad and Aladdin 
stories but the first volume is totally excellent.   I bought it 
several years ago and checked around for the best "modern"  version. 
It's nicely bound in cloth, too, just to make it nicer.   :)
