AW: AW: Paul Harvey's Tribute to Slavery, Nukes, Genocide

"And we grew prosperous"
"Country for miles around gone to necropolis."
(GR 4, 27-28)
Meg's question was about being or feeling disturbed. I felt not disturbed
because I expect things like this in the contemporary political climate of
this neo-colonial war based upon lies.
That America could have gone "sugar candy" seems to have been the
terrorist's big error.
I don't see any remorse about the past in Harvey's words, only the attempt
to justify present and future crimes by past crimes. It's the social
Darwinists attitude shared by the Nazis too.

I think the key passage is this, no? Okay ...
"And we grew prosperous. And yes, we greased the skids
with the sweat of slaves. So it goes with most great
nation-states, which--feeling guilty about their
savage pasts--eventually civilize themselves out of
business and wind up invaded and ultimately dominated
by the lean, hungry up-and-coming who are not made of
sugar candy."
Is PH suggesting there need be no remorse over
anything he's outlined? Is he suggesting that as the
US has (perhaps? presumably?) gone "sugar candy" (has
it?), Ameica has rendered itself vulnerable as well?
I believe Otto is reading such ambiguities charitably
here, whereas Meg is not. Should he? Need she? Hm
....
