My favorite way to read COL49 is in one sitting. I've read it several times
this way, and for me, for some reason, it seems to enhance the story. It
adds to the hopeful-/hopelessness Oedipa's "quest".
A neighbor asked me about Pynchon and what his novels were about--I told
him, "beats me."8-)
