The fate of this tribe resonates with that of the Herero in GR.  The Moriori 
are described as innocents cut off from their more aggressive cousins on 
other islands by accident of distance.  It is implied that they might have 
been shipwrecked there many years ago and lost most of their culture by way 
of collective memory loss.  They are described as true "noble savages" by 
their literal and total application of a prohibition against killing other 
humans.  I wonder about the historical truth of this description.
