9 pages?

[from the current Bookforum featuring a tribute to Pynchon] Richard Powers  
(one of my current favorites) mentions, from GR:  
"Nine  pages: that battery-ringed evensong  service, set somewhere in Kent—
the closest thing  I have to a private religious ritual." 
Can  someone tell me which pages he's referring to? Haven't looked at GR in 
much too  long...
