An intelligent and very readable essay (pdf) which considers _Lot 49_
alongside Pynchon's excellent 'Watts' article and _The Great Gatsby_.
Makes mention of "the map of Fangoso Lagoons that flashes on the TV at
Echo Courts", along with many other of the maps, circuits, patterns,
mazes (along with "Pynchon's mazy prose", puns and "feminist
discourse"), branchings, boundaries etc. which figure in the text, and
much else:

'The postmodern labyrinths of _Lot 49_' by William Gleason. _Critique_
34.2, Winter 1993, pp. 83-99.

Abstract
Reflects on the landscape, design and dynamics of _The Crying of Lot
49_ with reference to Wendy Faris's discourse _Labyrinths of Language_,
Culler, Eco, rhizomes et al. No spurious 'Star Wars' comparisons.
