Concerning Heidegger: French philosophers fight back!

Faye's book ("Heidegger, l'introduction du nazisme dans la philosophie") is causing quite a heated debate in France. Lately, it seems that a lot of philosophy teacher at French universities admit that indeed Heidegger's link to nazism went a *bit* further than what is commonly accepted in France (I don't know how it is in the States), and that links with nazism or more generally Germany's extreme-right may be traced back up to Heidegger's very first writings, which of course make some people wonder about the real interest of Heidegger's philosophy... Quite typically, the reactions against Faye's book are more directed against his plea for stopping the study of Heidegger's works at philosophy faculties than against his analysis of the man's work. This anlysis doesn't seem to be rejected at all, merely ignored by some.
By the way, I'm told Carl Schmitt is back in fashion right now in France.

I don't have enough knowledge in philosophy in general to pass judgement, so I let that to those of you who do know.
