NP re. fake pics and other hoaxes

It's hard to believe that anyone out there would take the time or trouble to bamboozle the tiny fringe element of humanity that constitutes the Pynchon-obsessed.  What's the pay-off?  Better to spend the time concocting pix of George Bush dallying with "Jeff Gannon."   That would be a hoax worth spreading!

Of course the Wanda-Letters did not change anything, but Pynchon 
definitely didn't become the reclusive author he is now because of them, 
as Rob's argument indicates.

The difference between the Wanda-Letters and the Japanese 
Playboy-interview is that we know for sure that he didn't write those 
letters but we don't know at all if the interview is a hoax or if it's 
authentic.

And, where's Pynchon cynical about people?
