Maybe people were put off by the dreary, unnecessary discussion of all
those 'shitty' essays. Or, maybe people were put off by people like you,
and your aggressively negative carping? And if it weren't the case that
some of those non-fiction pieces of Pynchon's contain somewhat
left-leaning sentiments, would you have been so dead set against them?
