     With the permission of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC)
Archives, The Journal for MultiMedia History presents The Investigator, a
radio play by Reuben Ship first produced in 1954. We include a brief
introduction by Gerald Gross of Concordia University, Montreal, that places
the work in historical context. We are also making available Prof. Gross'
article from Theatre Research In Canada, "A Palpable Hit: A Study of the
Impact of Reuben Ship's The Investigator" for those who want the full story
behind this unique play. To facilitate listening, we have divided the
original one-hour production into four parts.
      Recently, the CBC has begun making its archived dramas and
