EXCITING OPPORTUNITIES IN PSYCHOANALYTIC STUDIES AND JUNGIAN STUDIES
The Centre has an international reputation as one=20
of the most innovative and least sectarian=20
centres of its kind. Our staff come from many=20
professional and academic backgrounds and include=20
Marie Bridge, Karl Figlio, R.D Hinshelwood,=20
Roderick Main, Nick Midgley, David Millar, Renos=20
Papadopoulos, Joan Raphael-Leff, Susan Rowland,=20
Andrew Samuels, Mike Scott, John Walshe,=20
Christina Wieland and other scholars and analysts.
Our students are of all ages and come from a wide=20
variety of backgrounds including the arts,=20
education, philosophy, management and=20
psychotherapy/counselling and medicine. The=20
courses are time-tabled to make attendance at our=20
Colchester campus easy for those living in London=20
and Southern England. However, students come=20
from all over the country and many parts of the=20
world. Students can also take part in a lively=20
intellectual environment, including open seminars=20
and research forums, in which MA and research=20
students, staff and visitors discuss the latest=20
work on a variety of topics.
MA Programmes (one year full time, two years part time):
=85 Psychoanalytic Studies - A thorough grounding=20
in theory and methodology, clinical and=20
non-clinical.
=85 Jungian and Post-Jungian Studies - A unique and widely acclaimed degree.
=85 Psychoanalysis of Organizations - Training in=20
the practice of rigorous observation and=20
consultation.
=85 Philosophy and Psychoanalysis - Illumining=20
existential, social and cultural issues.
=85 Refugee Care - Therapeutic and psychosocial perspectives.
The Centre also offer PhD's, including by=20
distance learning for suitable overseas students,=20
and a range of individual courses. In the 2001=20
HEFCE Research Assessment Exercise, Essex was=20
ranked among the 10 universities in the UK: The=20
centre submits with the Dept of Sociology, a 6*=20
department.
