GRGR 1,1: Pirate's Ascent/Desent

One of the things that's always intrigued me about the opening of the 5th
"episode"(p. 29, Penguin)--that's what we called each section in my 20th
Century Lit class--is the séance, and the idea that in order to understand
the living, one must commune with the Dead. This notion ties into the
"other ways of knowing/believing" of which you speak. Science is cool and
all that, but it is not ALL . . .
