The difference between a parabola and a rainbow's arc can be smoothed
out by a bend similar to that exercised upon a harmonica note...
harmonica, (blues) harp, minstrels, angels
fancifully, the balustrade's top and bottom rails like the frame of a
harp, the support staves like harpstrings, a couple missing...
Bloat falling through the gap, an angel falling from heaven...
Bloat's POV in 1,3 a teeny tiny fulcrum of unbalanced seesaw, 1,1 and
1,2 at one end, the whole rest of the novel on the other side, I'm
exerting force but not expecting the ending to lift
Yet (like the bathtub M&D purloin) somehow the ending springs up
"Orpheus puts down harp"...
are the 2 Pirate sections the first iteration of a fractal pattern that
will produce the Slothrop narrative arc?
Can the Pirate arc foreshadow or provide keys to the rest of the story?
Pirate's talent (which involves a bent species of compassion, as well
as some intelligence) is not only noticed by Them, but They encourage
it and use it, taking him out of the ranks and giving him duties of
which he - in a certain light - could be somewhat proud
Maybe They are not all bad after all...
Is this a template for what will happen to Slothrop?
-----------
I'm confused. It seems as if the V-2 Pirate sees is the first V-2, yet
the map in Slothrop's part of the shared cubicle has numerous stars. I
thought his romantic encounters only happened on V-2 sites, or is that
wrong? This will probably be covered in due course...
