I thought so too. It expresses regret for a situation in which the  
dominant approach to knowledge may  be allowed completely free rein  
by default. The scientific method is a great success but it would be  
nice if it  were subject to some  higher or  coequal authority.  Even  
a flawed Theory provided a bit of balance. Without Theory, about the  
only remaining balancing force is Religion.  Let there be more choices.
