IF he could get back into his more imaginative and less commercial - i.e., earlier stuff, like The Last Wave, Picnic at Hanging Rock, The Year of Living Dangerously, Fearless - style, I'd nominate Peter Weir for a director. Apparently he's been announced as the director for Pattern Recognition - William Gibson's book, I'd guess - so maybe that's a good sign that he's returning to that mode...?!
