I was thinking very generally, if you wish stereotypically, along the 
lines of a sense of loss, of a promise squandered, as evoked by the 
passage from M&D I quoted.

Hmmm, now that you mention it, I am definitely in favour of putting 
Venezuela in charge for a change. Or Finland.
