"THRICE Vheissu (Island)
Throughout Vheissu's eleven tracks, this socially aware Orange County,
Calif., screamo outfit taps into a familiar loud-quiet-loud hookiness that
matches the best of the Deftones and Thursday, and the first single, the
free-will anthem "Image of the Invisible," sounds like Linkin Park if
fronted by Ian MacKaye. Sometimes they take themselves a bit too seriously
(their album title is a Thomas Pynchon reference), but their high-minded
rock has plenty for even the goofiest of us to appreciate. B+"
