Yeah, I didn't know about the 1999-2000 Group Read until jbor mentioned
it.

Point taken. Perhaps we ought to have hosts after all.
I also think it would be good to have some sort of theme or angle from
which to approach the read; as I mentioned before one suggestion would
be to try keeping a grip on the narrative, who is talking, what is
happening etc.
Another approach might be to identify and track thems, motifs,
interconnections and so o n as they arise and develop. There wouold be a
lot of this just in the opening pages alone.
So far, no word from Terrance. Is he still out there? I know he promised
us a good opener if we did a Group Read..........
Cheers

Yes. There have been two GRGR's. The first never finished. The second
did, but with only a handful making it to the end, after nearly a
two-year
schedule. The value of hosts is primarily someone to *keep* the ball
rolling, ideally someone who has been willing to dig deep into the
segment
at hand, thus motivating others to keep participating. But with a book
like
GR, you need more than a few commtted hosts, because the book is so
large
and complex. It's too much work to ask of only a few folks to keep it
going... But the first task is surely a schedule.
