GR & the Holocaust

Nice to see you interpreting GR through the lens of
the Holocaust again, jbor. You'll remember that I
pointed out - and you liked the idea back then - more
than a few years ago in a previous GR group discussion
that the Evacuation sequence at the beginning of GR
could be read as the transportation of Jews and other
Holocaust victims to the death camps. (Surely one or
another Pynchon scholar has made this suggestion
before I did, but I haven't found such a reference.)
Several of us identified quite a few
references/allusions to the Holocaust in this opening
sequence, and throughout the novel - the fall of the
crystal palace echoing the shattering glass of
Kristallnacht, the "SS" imagery, & etc.

Let the group reading proceed, I suggest, and turn to
building the group read infrastructure for those
moments when the discussion sags.
