Of course I'm not saying that.  But I do think that TRP chose to begin the back at the end of WWII because the focus of the book was not the WWII in and of itself, but rather WWII as the point of origin of the concept of Nuclear Holocaust.  Living in fear of nuclear annihilation is, obviously, a totally different (and vastly better) situation than actually being annihilated in a genocidal holocaust.  No argument there.

You've not saying are you that the anxiety of living through the  
"nuclear age" 70s was comparable to living in Europe during the war  
years. Different order of magnitude . . .
