Interesting,  Whoever or whatever is being born, however, the
birth is being staged. Who's the producer? Or, is the "but it's all
theatre" meant to underline "It is too late," i.e., the evacuees are
just going through the motions, and they probably know it, but
they're trapped (just like the audience?) in their roles of least
resistance?
