Absolute Zero is impossible to reach. It's also the (theoretical)
place where both Entropy and Free Energy are at a minimum:
total order but no potential, complete knowledge but abject
helplessness to use it. Sounds like hell to me.
In order to do useful work there must be wastefulness. Without
Entropy- background noise- it is impossible to discriminate
a meaningful message from everything else Total meaning is
meaningless. The impossibility of reaching Absolute Zero,
the inability to completely eliminate uncertainty, may represent
some backdoor out of hopelessness.
This paradox may be the only hint/glimmer of hope there is
in this section, and it's akin to a quantum fluctuation- slim
indeed- and filtering in only as a memory:
...of the coral-like and mysteriously vital growth,
around the blind curves and out lonely spurs...
Despite Death's best efforts.
