<< Not to be too picky but has anyone ever said that the War itself was
 ABOUT the Holocaust? >>

No. What was said, by The Online Reporter, was that the Holocaust was the
central metaphor of GR. To which many people said, no it isn't; and, in fact,
the Holocaust is nowhere to be found in the novel, but by inference.

Over the course of arguing this, The Online Reporter charged Rob Jackson with
being a Holocaust denier. And so, for those of us who were around for that
The Online Reporter reappearing with his typically glib assertions and lack of
defense, rubs old wounds.

My own opinion is with Rob, that the Holocaust is alluded to and no more. My
gut feeling is that Pynchon was wise enough to know it was a subject he was
without authority to probe in depth..
