hi... i live(d) in New Orleans too, though i rarely ever post here.... i got 
out safe and sound saturday night and am now sort of bouncing between family 
member's houses in Atlanta and Savannah, and Charleston soon. Savannah is 
enough like New Orleans to be eerie; i'm not sure yet how i feel about that. 
i've heard that my neighborhood is pretty dry, not that that is at all what 
is so devastating in this situation. I have friends who have stayed in the 
city and have made it through the storm ok, but i haven't heard about their 
plans to get out. and i also have a friend (a fellow pynchonhead, actually) 
whom i haven't heard from at all.
 David, I hope you and your family are doing ok and i wish you the best.
 New Orleans...
